2021 Oduor Family Vacation – Mt. Rushmore

Day 3 – Sunday, August 8th We woke up in Nebraska very near to our first destination, Carhenge – Nebraska’s answer to Stonehenge, in Alliance Nebraska. The pictures speak for themselves. The artist is a Nebraskan native who worked in England for several years and decided to bring a bit of it back home with him. Some of the pieces serve as a time capsule of sorts. One installation is a tribute to the four Read more…

2021 Oduor Family Vacation – Motors, Twine, a Swing, and a Frog

Day 2 – Saturday, August 7th Our first day was to include a visit to the Museum of World Treasures in Wichita, Kansas, and end with an overnight stay in Augusta, Kansas. However, our navigator, Kedra, goofed and mapped us directly to the hotel. Once we figured we were headed in the wrong direction it was too late to venture back to the museum. So, we ended the day early but found another museum to Read more…

2021 Oduor Family Vacation – Another Great American Road Trip

Day 1 – Friday, August 6th After being cooped up for 18 months, it was time to set these COVID-19 vaccinated Oduor wings out for a soaring adventure across the American landscape. Our first stop was Oklahoma City. We traveled through OKC several times to visit family in Kansas. However, we never stopped in OKC, not even for gas. Our first destination was the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum. This somber and sobering memorial Read more…

End of Summer 2018

It’s been a whirlwind of activity since we have been back from our road trip. We have just getting back to “normal,” which means back to school for the kids. I finally finished all of the back to school shopping this past weekend and yes it is a week after school started. Judah was all set last week before school started but Janea did not get her supply lists (yes with an “s”) until last Read more…

A Visitor from Japan

This summer we had the pleasure of meeting 15-year old our niece, Stacey, for the first time. She currently lives in Japan with her parents but visited her aunts and uncles this summer in Texas. Earlier this summer we took her to her first ever escape room and luckily we escaped with 48 seconds to spare. We had fun! Janea is so elated to finally meet a cousin close to her age. (Judah has 2 Read more…

Chicago, IL – Round 1

After we left Michigan, Waze and Google Maps, mapped our journey home through Illinois and way too close to Chicago to not stop by. We didn’t have any definite plans and the city has so much to offer that we reserve the privilege to visit there again. Our first stop was for lunch to have an authentic Chicago hot dog. I did a little Google search during our 4-hour drive from Flint, MI and decided Read more…

Family Time in Flint, MI

Well we are reaching the final leg of our summer vacation and we are spending it hanging out with family in Flint, MI. Our trip is turning into somewhat of a foodie road trip. I posted about the poutine earlier. Last night, we were treated to dinner at Black Rock in Davison, MI. There you can cook your steak on a 755°F stone. Yes, you can go to a restaurant and cook at the table. Read more…

Last Day at Niagara Falls

On our last day at Niagara Falls, we walked all the way back to the States across Rainbow Bridge and took a few snapshots along the way.   Our destination was back to the Niagara Falls State Park in New York to ride the Maid of the Mist. Similar to the Hornblower in Ontario, it took us within the mist of Horseshoe Falls. However, I was a little wiser and took a different position on Read more…

Niagara Falls, Ontario

We started our first full day in Niagara Falls, Ontario with a nice and easy commute to a Niagara Parks Welcome Centre. On our way there, we saw a few interesting sites including… …an upside down house …a sideways storefront …and a couple of pirates. We picked up our tickets for the tours “du jour” of the Niagara Falls. Our first stop was on the Hornblower, a boat that took us into the midst of Read more…
