Today we drove for about 10 hours from Duffield, Virginia to Ontario, Canada. More specifically, Niagara Falls, ON. If we had more time, we would have visited places along the way like Civil War memorials in Virginia or West Virginia. Or maybe we could have taken a tour of the Pro Football Hall of  Fame, which we passed in Canton, Ohio. We could have stopped and eaten authentic Buffalo wings in Buffalo, New York. Well, now I know to make the time.

Before we crossed the border into Canada, we visited the American Falls in New York and took a few pics.

As we crossed the border, we were questioned about weapons by the border officer. He asked if we carried firearms for personal protection. We said, “no.” Then he asked if we carried ammunition. We said, “no.” Then he said that we triggered an alarm and was going to take 3 X-rays of our vehicle. I did my best not to get concerned. He ultimately waved us through and wished us well. In hindsight, I think the weight of the load in our trunk which included over a weeks worth of clothes for 4 people, probably set-off some alarm, especially when we told him how short our stay in Canada will be. Note to self – don’t carry weaponry across the border.

I think the border agent saw Texas plates and assumed that everyone in Texas was armed.

We are still learning the ends and outs of road trippin’. I’ll do better next time of planning stops and adventures along the way.
